Not a subscription box, not a nursery sapling. A living tree that a farmer has already grown for years, delivered to your home and supported while it is with you.

The short version: a partner farmer grows an avocado tree through its most difficult years. When it is strong enough, we bring that tree to your home. You live with it, care for it with our guidance, and we stay on the hook for it. If it stops working — for the tree or for you — it goes back to the farm.
That is a genuinely unusual arrangement, so it is worth being precise about what it is and what it isn't.
| Not this | Why the distinction matters |
|---|---|
| A fruit subscription box | Nothing is delivered monthly. One living tree arrives once, and it stays. |
| A symbolic tree adoption | You are not sponsoring a tree on a distant farm. The tree is physically at your home. |
| A nursery purchase | A nursery hands over a sapling and the relationship ends at the till. Here the tree is already years into its life and the support continues. |
| An indoor decorative plant | Avocado is a full-sun outdoor tree. It needs a balcony, terrace, courtyard or garden, not a living-room corner. |

Because avocado's failure mode is unforgiving and mostly front-loaded. Extension guidance is consistent that a grafted tree takes around three years from planting before it bears, and root rot from poor drainage is the disease that kills most home trees. Those first years are where things go wrong.
Under a sale, that risk lands entirely on you. Under a rental, it stays with us. We have every incentive to send a tree that will actually survive at your address, to tell you honestly when your conditions are wrong, and to intervene rather than shrug when a tree struggles.
The alignment is the product
A nursery is paid once, whether the tree lives or dies. We are paid while the tree is alive and well at your home. That difference shapes everything else about how the service runs.
You can read more about the growers this depends on in our farmer network.
We would rather be direct about this than surprise you later. A living tree needs a person.
Your side of the arrangement
Early messages are cheap
Most avocado problems are fixable if we hear about them in week one and difficult by month three. Send a photo when something looks odd — that is what the support is for.
Apartment residents with a sunny balcony, families who want children to watch something real grow, people who want a fruit tree without gambling on a species that is easy to kill, restaurants and offices wanting a living centrepiece with a story behind it. We have separate guides for apartments and for businesses, offices and restaurants.
It does not suit a dark north-facing balcony, a home nobody is in for weeks at a time, or someone who wants fruit next month. We will tell you when it is a bad fit.
Availability depends on a partner farm within reach and a workable delivery route. We only open a region when both exist, which is why our service-area page marks locations as live, coming soon or planned rather than claiming national coverage.
If you want the mechanics rather than the concept, how avocado tree rental works walks through the process step by step, and what's included lists exactly what the fee covers.
Yes. A real, living, grafted avocado tree grown by a partner farmer is delivered to your home and stays with you for the rental term. It is not a model, a seedling kit or a symbolic adoption.
We do, which is the point. Because the tree stays ours, we remain responsible for its health and can replace or recover it if things go wrong, rather than leaving you with a dying tree you paid for.
Fruiting depends on the tree's age, the variety and your conditions. A grafted tree generally begins bearing around three years after planting. We would rather set that expectation honestly than promise fruit on a fixed date.
Only where we have both a partner farm and a delivery route. Our service-area page lists every state and union territory with an honest status — live, coming soon or planned — rather than claiming nationwide delivery.
Horticultural and nutritional claims on this page are drawn from these references.
We write from two places: published horticultural research from institutions such as ICAR-IIHR and the University of California, and what our partner farms actually observe growing avocado in Indian conditions. Where the evidence is thin or regional, we say so instead of rounding it into a confident answer.
