Avocado Yield Calculator
Estimate total production for your planting under low, moderate and high scenarios, normalised per acre and per hectare — with the age and system adjustments that make young orchards realistic.
Use figures from growers in your district if you have them — this varies enormously.

Reading these numbers honestly
- Avocado is well known for alternate bearing — a heavy year commonly followed by a lighter one. Averaging two consecutive years gives a fairer picture.
- Marketable yield is always below total yield once grading, handling damage and undersized fruit are taken out.
- Weather during flowering has an outsized effect. A single hot dry spell at the wrong moment can cut a season's crop sharply.
- The most reliable yield figure you can get is from growers with mature trees in your own district.
Every result here is an estimate built from your own inputs and widely published growing guidance. Real outcomes vary with rootstock, soil, weather, water quality and management.
About the avocado yield calculator
Yield per tree changes dramatically with age. A tree that has just begun bearing produces a small fraction of what the same tree produces once mature, and avocado is well known for alternate bearing — a heavy year commonly followed by a lighter one. Any single-number yield estimate hides both effects.
That is why this tool gives you three scenarios and applies an age factor. The low scenario is the number to plan cash flow around.
How this tool works
- 1Enter tree count, tree age, variety, growing system and your expected yield per mature tree.
- 2An age factor scales that expectation for young, early-bearing and mature trees.
- 3Results are shown as low, moderate and high, in total and per unit area.
How to read your result
Plan on the low scenario
It absorbs an off year, weather setbacks and losses between tree and market.
Alternate bearing is normal
Averaging across two consecutive years gives a fairer picture than either year alone.
Marketable yield is lower than total yield
Grading, handling damage and undersized fruit all take a share before anything is sold.
Worked example
160 trees at eight years old with a mature expectation of 60 kg per tree returns a moderate scenario well below 160 × 60, because the age factor and scenario spread apply first.
